Harbor Breeze Ceiling Fan Installation

The installation process can seem a little tricky as you unpack everything and look at all the different bits and pieces. However, if you refer to our easy-to-follow steps, we’re sure you’ll be done with the process a lot quicker than you thought.

  1. Take everything out of the box and arrange the parts to make sure everything’s included.

  2. Start by assembling the fan blades. Attach the brackets to the blades and secure them by tightening the screws.

  3. Next, take the fan motor and remove the rubber grommet.

  4. Now, use your drill or screwdriver to take out each of the spacers. These spacers are factory installed to protect the fan during shipment, so they need to be removed.

  5. Separate the fan bracket from the canopy.

  6. Next, remove the safety pin and the pin from the downrod.

  7. Now, assemble the downrod with the big and small canopy.

  8. Start by removing the green wire from the downrod.

  9. Attach the big and small canopies to the downrod such that they’re both in the opposite direction sandwiching the downrod.

  10. Take the wires coming out from the fan motor and feed them through the canopy in the direction of the smaller canopy. This way, the wires will come out from the other side.

  11. Attach the downrod to the fan motor.

  12. Next, put the ceiling fan bracket up to where you want to install the fan on the ceiling.

  13. Once the bracket is installed, the next step is to hang the ceiling fans. Take the plastic ball on the end of the downrod and slide it onto the hanger so the bracket supports the ceiling fan.

  14. Now, pull out all your wires to one side.

  15. There will be two green wires, one coming from the ceiling fan and the other coming from the ceiling bracket. There will be another bare wire, which is the ground wire. Tie all these wires together with a wire nut.

  16. Attach the two black and two blue wires similarly using a wire nut.

  17. Now, take the canopy, lift it up to the ceiling and fix it by tightening the screws in the slot.

  18. Attach the fan blades, light fixtures, and bulbs next.

  19. Lastly, attach the cover or globe to the bottom part of the fan.

  20. Attach any additional parts like the light strings.

  21. And you’re done!.

Harbor Breeze Ceiling Fan Troubleshooting

If you’re experiencing the following common problems with your Harbor Breeze ceiling fan, don’t worry! We have solutions to some common problems that you might come across.

My Fan is Not Operating or Moving

If your fan fails to move, you can start by checking if the wall switch is turned off. If it is, you need to turn it back on. You can check if the power is off or the fuse breaker is blown. Try to turn the power on or check the condition of the circuit breaker on the electric panel. Lastly, you can check to see if the season slide switch is engaged. Firmly push the slide switch to either one of the directions on the remote.

My Fan Won’t Turn on

If the fan isn’t turning on, check the incoming power. You should analyze the reversing switch and make sure it’s not ‘in-between’ positions. You can rectify this by putting the reversing switch in a backward or forward direction to check if this was the component causing the problem.

My Fan is Noisy

The fan can become noisy if the blades have gotten loose. Make sure to check and tighten if necessary. Check to see if one of the fan blades has cracked. If your fan is new, you need to continuously keep the fan on for 24-48 hours to surpass the break-in period. Make sure the outlet box is securely attached to the structure. Finally, ensure that the mounting bracket is properly secured to the outlet box.

My Fan is Wobbling

You can correct this problem by checking if the fan blades are properly secured in place. This includes both the blades and the blade arms to the motor. If the blades are unbalanced, it can cause the fan to wobble. So, switch one blade from the other side or balance it using a balancing kit. If the fan is too close to the vaulted ceiling, this problem can arise, so use a longer downrod or remove the fan and install it somewhere else.

Conclusion

Ceiling fans are a great home appliance that can keep any area airy and cool enough, provided that you buy from the right brand. One such brand that you can never go wrong with is Harbor Breeze. Plus, you can find a long list of products in so many designs and colors to match your home’s aesthetics. Hopefully, our in-depth reviews help you find the ideal ceiling fans that fit your needs.
